How KeepTrackMed Helped Me Through My Cancer Journey

Cancer was something I never expected to navigate. I don't think anyone does. Looking back, one thing I know with complete certainty is that I do not know how I would have managed without KeepTrackMed.

Before my diagnosis, I had no idea how quickly healthcare information could become overwhelming. There were appointments, tests, referrals, specialist visits, scans, bloodwork, and endless pieces of information coming from different places.

The Journey Before Diagnosis

The period leading up to diagnosis was very stressful. I knew something was wrong, but I kept being told by doctors that everything was ok. I went back to my GP many times asking for referrals to specialists. There were so many appointments and tests happening close together. Some were with the NHS, some were private. I was recording symptoms, following up on results, trying to remember what happened at one appointment versus another, and keeping track of new information. One challenge was that not every doctor had access to my medical records.

Sometimes I could pull up information in KeepTrackMed before a specialist could access it themselves, and private specialists did not always have access to my medical history.

Having my records accessible in one place became incredibly valuable. Instead of trying to remember:

• when I had a test • what the result said • what medications I had already tried • which specialist ordered something • what happened during previous visits • how often I was having specific symptoms

I could simply open KeepTrackMed. I could print my current medication list and allergies list and bring them to an appointment. I could show doctors a list of all the times I recorded having back pain and coughing fits that left me on the floor.

That reduced a lot of anxiety during a time when my mind already felt overloaded.

During Treatment Everything Became More Complicated

Once treatment started, life became even more demanding. Cancer treatment is not just treatment itself.

It's appointments.

It's scans.

It's bloodwork.

It's medication changes.

It's follow-ups.

It's remembering questions I wanted to ask.

It's remembering what symptoms started and when.

It's trying to function in normal life while carrying an enormous amount of emotional and physical stress.

Being able to record all of my appointments and receive reminders and notifications helped make treatment feel more manageable. I would put notes on each chemo appointment in KeepTrackMed as soon as I thought about something, then would check the items off when I was at chemo knowing that way I wouldn’t forget anything. I did not have to constantly worry that I had forgotten something important. Instead of keeping everything in my head, I could rely on my system.

Dealing With Chemo Brain

One of the things I was not fully prepared for was chemo brain. The brain fog and forgetfulness was definitely frustrating. There were days when I struggled to remember details I knew I should know. Instead of wondering if I was forgetting something, I had a way to check - and that brought a lot of reassurance.

Life After Treatment

Thankfully, I am now in remission.

But the anyone on a cancer journey knows it’s not over when chemotherapy is done.

There are still follow up appointments.

There are still scans.

There are still symptoms to monitor closely.

There are still medications to keep track of.

More Than Organisation

For me, KeepTrackMed became much more than just a way to keep track of all my medical information. During one of the hardest periods of my life, having everything accessible in one place gave me a sense of control. Cancer can make so many things feel uncertain. Having my health information organised helped me feel more prepared, more informed, and more confident. Looking back now, I honestly do not know how I would have managed without KeepTrackMed. 💗
